Ok, so this may be a totaly newb question... But Im totaly newb at lasering, so Im sure you will all excuse it.

My question is simple. I send electrons from my battery into my driver, which regulates and passes the electrons through a timer, and then sends them forward to my driver. And then the inexplicable, miraculous, and UNBELEIVABLY COOL happens, and there is and extremely bright light. How does that work? What exactly do those electrons do when they enter the diode?

I am so curious, I am almost bursting. But, I will have to wait a few weeks. I wont be home for aproxomately three weeks. When I get home, however, I would very much apreciate an explanation.

Thanks so much,
Liam.

A quick google search found this:

How Does a Laser Diode Work? | eHow.com

the transference of electrons through a substrate gives off energy in the form of photons.

AAlasers

Perfect. Thank you so much. That was exactly the sort of one sentence answer I was looking for. And you included an in-depth description in a link.

I could choose one type of answer to allways reciece... It would be that sort.

Most satisfactory.

Thanks a bundle,
Liam.
