How do I attach 4AAA batteries to keychain laser

Hi,

I've been looking for answers on how to do this on the internet and found this forum. All I would like to do is power my key chain laser pointer to 4AAA batteries. I use the pointer to play with my cat but the batteries don't last very long.

I have a battery holder with a negative and positive lead out. Any help is appreciated.

You need a hole in the back cover, where the keychain attaches, make up a dummy battery with a pos and neg contact....see drawing.

For the effort involved, you might just look into buying a whole new pointer that already accepts AA batteries. They're like $2.50 on DealExtreme, probably even less than the button-battery one you have right now.

I'm in Canada. To order from DealExtreme is expensive when you factor in the shipping. Plus it's kind of fun to try to do it DIY. Now just to try and get it to work... Thanks

attach a wire to the positive end of your battery holder then connect it to the spring in the laser module in the key chain, make sure the wire only touches the spring and not the key chain case, then connect another wire to the negative end of your battery holder and attach that end to the case anywhere, your best bet is to screw the cap back into the case, trapping the negative wire firmly between the two parts, and the positive wire too (make sure not to strip off the rubber case)

Why 4? Don't they use three LR44s? That's 4.5V with no load.
