A quick and easy method to make a laser will result in a quick and easily dead laser. So don't expect "kipkay" tutorials here. That is NOT the way to go. You'll find that this community looks down on Kipkay for his "noobness" in lasers.

Not so much noobness, but rather he's spreading disinformation. I can only imagine how many people tried it and burned out their stuff on the first try.

Honestly, I like the learning curve required of making a laser. It keeps out the people who aren't willing to put in real effort to learn it.

actually I used to make tons of mini mag 16x red lasers. None of them burned out on first try, I had some burn out after a couple weeks though.

just sayin.

I totally agree that the mini mag mod is absolute crap and diodes need laser drivers to function properly.

I tried makin my own driver and everythin and got everythin i need and rushed in building the circuit and getting everything together. This was a bad idea. Its nice to take your time and consider seriously your options, budget and what exactly u want. Then u need to figure out exactly what u need and how it will put together.. And then make some adjustments to ur idea.
If u have alot of money to spend, then buy a kit off LPF, if no, do a lot of research and planning before u even start, other wise u could waste funds that could of been spent on pre made drivers etc.. Bottom line is, know exactly what ur doing. :)

I will admit, that Kipkay vid is what made me become interested in the idea of homemade lasers. Fortunately, I learned of the proper way to drive the lasers first.

Dude ahaha!! I also do the same ...
I am a fan of kipkay vids and are so cool his videos.. Just the main fault that he did on the first video was that he forgot to put a driver but on the second video with blue ray beam it's perfect!!

He's got that used car salesman voice, and the editing is pretty good. Too bad the content of the laser vid isn't great though.

Just thinking aloud here but...

... if kk111mk were to follow the Blu-Ray tutorial for a red... Aren't they going to come unstuck with the Anode and Cathode not being the same?

(Pretty sure this was just an oversight as I'm still learning too, but someone might follow the thread to here and poof... ;) )

Ta,

M
