this was my first laser, i got it yesterday :/ was from megalaseruk, i got the 125mw Green laser for £59~

basically the laser was working fine, then i took off the bit over the lens and had a look at it, at which point i smudged the lens a bit, anyways i tried to clean the smudge off and then i think i damaged the lens (there was a patch that now looked kinda reflective rather than clear?) and then my focus was bad, there was alot of laser light lost over an area wide of the center beam

so i messed around with it a bit to try and fix it, ended up unscrewing it, i thought perhaps the reason for the light leaking to the sides was that i had nudged the lens out of the right place inside the laser by screwing it further in,out, i then put the lens back in and screwed it so far in I COULDNT GET IT BACK OUT, and it was still focused badly, so i tried to screw it back out with a cotton bud, and ended up pushing the lens inside of my laser, under the screw threads, so now its rattling around inside, and there doesnt appear to be a way to dismantle it.. am i screwed?

thanks,

Post a picture of your laser. Post a few. Uually they aren't too bad. It sounds like your smudged the coating on the lens. If you can remove all the coating it should be okay ( I say should be cause I'm not sure what lens/ optic your talking about) but post pictures lots of them and we the people of LPF will figure something out (well hopefully).

Merry Christmas

You can pull the top off. It is pressed on and usually puts up quite a fight but ive removed them using one of those rubber grip things you use to open bottles that are closed tightly ( idk if they have a name) and a set of vice grips.

That picture has two lasers in it. Assuming it is the larger one

right, update: theres so little of it poking out of the body (literally like 2.5 MM) with a bit of thread for the top piece, so not alot to grip onto, also so far i only succeeded in damaging the bit thats poking out :(

The surface will get scratched if you don't use a rubber grip of some type. Just a warning

In reply to the update. You really need to post pictures. Your post doesn't make much sense.

You have shoved the lens into the green module somehow. I don't know what module that particular laser uses, but it is probably trash.

You might try finding something the exposed threads will screw into and using that to pull the module out, that is if you haven't messed the threads up beyond repair already.
