Help needed on Kr-Ar laser

Hi,
I've been lucky to get my hands on a Omnichrome 643-50RYB-MOLD and a power supply, but no cables or anything else. It looks intact, but besides that I have no idea of its condition.

Is it possible to make this running? Should I be aware of some special precautions?

A Danger label reads: <400 mw Kr-Ar 457-675 nm Class IIIb Laser.

I have plenty of experience with electronics and can do electrical tests before trying to power it up, but I have no experience with lasers at all.

You could see if it's the same (rebadged) laser as the Melles Griot 643, compare it to here:

In that case there's at least one member with experience.

Try to get member "daguin"s attention, he owns many "big" lasers,
and has fixed many and got them up and running.

altough i never saw daguin with an Ar-Kr, id say most prolly he had owned one sometime.

There are a few members that own those great great lasers.

Ur a lucky person, in my opinion (and i think in 99% of the foruns opinion) that must be one of the most beautiful visible lasers out there.


welcome to the forum, and i also reccommend Daguin...great person...hope im not stepping to far in saying u should talk to him.

But even so, lots of people here can help u. There are people that only come to the gas laser section so ur in good hands!
