help with multimeter

hi i just got a new multimeter and it dident come with a book can any one help me on what to set it on to measure voiltage/current for a br driver. i tryed it on a br driver my 9v batt is 8.08voilts and my dummy load is 100 ohm resistor and it reads 3.66 but need help on what to set the meter to

keeping the connection setup in pic 2 rotate the knob to DCV and get the voltage reading across the dummy load. connecting the leads in series with the dummy load resistor and keeping the knob to DCI get the mA reading.

too low. thats ok for a 10-ohm shunt. whats the intended current anyway?

ur batt may be sagging too much under load. if it reads 8V when unloaded, it is probably depleted. what is the color code of your dummy?

the dummy load is brown, black ,brown, gold and the batt is 8.94voilts is it to low

ok, so ur dummy is indeed 100ohms. if ur current is 38ma u should be measuring ~3.8V across it. color code of the shunt rsistor = ?
