if i need an aixiz module to house it in could you please recommend which one i need?

Getting that one would be a bad idea mate especially when you can buy the diode or a sled to extract a diode from usually under $10 for around 200mW. Yes you will need a module as it is required for focusing and you will also need a driver so your laser doesn't fry when you turn it on.

thanks for the help. i am planning on building the driver but im not sure i have the right parts picked out. if it isnt too much to ask could u post a complete part list and where to get them?

There are plenty of guides/how-to on the forum, it feels kind of silly to type the whole thing again every time someone asks.
