Help me identify the laser

Hi, lately i bought two 1000mW(claimed) blue laser pointers for 127$ each. I can burn (smoke,char) wood, burn news papers and burn any paper other than a white A4 paper. The lasers draw about 1.4A at 7.4V could someone tell me if these are real 1000mW blue lasers.

Sounds legit. Any links?

The laser with the grey host came with that metal box and with that glass. However the the laser with the black host came with a blue box here is the image[ imgur: the simple image sharer ]. I bought the metal case and the goggles for the laser with the black host.

The thing that worries me the laser with the black host has a sticker that says that the laser is class IIIA

Does the sticker also say it's max output?

If it is 3a then it is not 1w at all.

The sticker means nothing on cheap lasers. I have one somewhere that said my 532nm pen laser was 1W. :crackup:

They are likely around 1W, give or take a couple hundred milliwatts.

Thanks i'm glad that my lasers are are around 1000mW.

By the way is there a way to get a focus lens that focuses the beam to a 1mm radius

Yeah, you can focus the laser down down to 1mm radius easily with a lens.

I had a pen laser from eBay, the sticker says 532nm but I'm pretty sure it's purple :crackup:

The sticker is playing with your mind! Don't give in!

Just out of curiosity, why do you care what the output of your laser is? Does it do what you want it to do? A power measurement is pretty meaningless for just about every common use of a laser pointer and is really only helpful as maybe a diagnostic or analysis tool when making adjustments/substitutions/comparisons. There have been several past posts about the difficulties in estimating power by any method other than a LPM which speaks volumes about the uselessness of that number. If the only way to find out the power is by shining on a LPM then who cares what the power is? Unless of course you plan to shine it on a LPM to impress your friends, in which case you wouldn't be asking for guesses about whether you've got a 1W laser or not.

[Edit] I see now that you might be asking in order to verify some marketing claim made by the seller of your new device. If that is important to you, please refer to my comments about needing a LPM and send your laser to a forum member who will measure it for free.
