Sup guys, havent been on here forever,
Well months ago my friend dropped my laser and the driver plopped out with the batteries so ive pretty much neglected it for a long time.
Im on summer vacation so i want to fix it
its a cheap 50mw green laser from DinoDirect takes 2x AA

Heres some pics:

The small part fell off

I dont care if i have to move everything into an altoids can, i just want a working laser :undecided:

Final thoughts:
Can you guys help me put this back together? im clueless right now.
Also can i put 4 AA and an on-off switch? (i have a 4 AA holder with a switch)

Indeed, as Dave said, your current one is ruined.

The "little piece" that fell off is a crystal holder, it holds th Nd:YAG and KTP doubler crystals in place, and that piece is alligned to the diode with micrometer precision, and it's almost impossible to fix that at home.

Disregarding that, pins from the diode are ripped out completely, so no point in trying to salvage it.

I'd reccomend replacing the module with one of O-like's:

But laser will no longer be focusable, if it was (not sure).

alright guys thanks for helping,
Although i took a look at the diode and it looks like they are bent not ripped out. I will make sure once actually i take it out. Can you guys assist me in finding the pos+ and neg- terminals on the driver (plz correct me if the little control board is not called a driver) and the diode?
Thanks!

You should have two pads for diode pins on one side, and only one in the other side.
The sole one on other side is diode positive, and one of those two is negative, and to know which you need to know how to properly orient the diode's pins / pads.

In short:

last question, how would i rewire the driver to run a different battery source? It only has the spring, where would i put the input positive/negative wires for the battery?

battery negative goes to the spring, and battery positive goes to either/any of these:
1. the case pin labeld + as in eudaimoniums picture
2. the tab on the circuit board that positive pin connects to on the board
3. the metal outside of the laser diode casing

Hi, I've managed to get my green pointer working again briefly but the problem was the glue holding the KTP/vanidate in place kept warping under stress ruining the alignment.

I second the thing about the alignment, it is ridiculously critical; X-Y and the rotation of the diode is vital due to polarisation sensitivity.

If you manage to get a compatible diode then there is a small chance that you can realign it but in all likelihood it will be at least a couple of hours of incremental adjustments to get any green whatsoever at low power then carefully increasing it to test for power fading.

There is a guy on Ebay selling 300mW 808's with an easily removeable can, those work but you need to go through a few of them to get one centred on 808nm at room temperature.

Kind regards, -Andre
(send it to me for "spares", pretty please :) :) )
