i have this laser that i bought from tmart (of course it didnt live up to the advertisement) that i want to take apart and use for a housing. the only thing is i cant begin to figure out how to take it apart i was hoping someone might be able to give me some ideas. the picture doesn't show this very well but it has an aluminum circle around the copper heat sink. i want to take it out without damaging the driver or diode, i figured i would pot mod it first to see if i can get the advertised power out of it first, otherwise its just another housing.

Well it's not a copper heatsink, it's a brass module ;)

But nitpicking aside, yes it would probably be possible to take it apart.

You'd have to unscrew the lens first (up on the front, part meant for focusing the laser, taking it off) and seeing if the entier assembly from the inside can be unthreaded just like that.

If not, with lens removed, you can most likely hammer the assembly out, from the battery-side out through the lens side.
But you risk breaking it, great care needed.

Some angle photos would be good.

Anyhow, brass module (housing) is being pressfited into the aluminium heatsink.
Hammering only THAT out leaves you with heatsinked host, ready to accept any 12mm modules... hopefully.

Insert something firm and pointy (like flat head screwdriver) into the battery end, watch not to hit the driver or components or anything, and lean against brass piece.
Hit with hammer, brass piece and driver and lens should come out of other side.

Obviously you'd need some sort of metal barrel to lean against the heatsink so brass piece has clear passage out.

P.S. In English, there are rules of proper spelling and grammar. Obeying those will make people like you more. Try it out and see for yourself.

If you need any further help, feel free to PM me :)
No need for excess threads around here.

P.S. I am non-native English speaker. Not sure what "SLC, UT" means.
