Hi all, I'm looking for a quick bit of help if anyone with some knowledge on the subject of the white case wire.

I am building a solarforce 445nm with Jayrob's Solarforce build kit

http://laserpointerforums.com/f64/fs-solarforce-l2p-kit-18650-host-massive-heatsink-53746.html

And using DTR's diode found
2W 445nm M140 Blue Laser Diode in Copper Module w Leads Three Element Glass | eBay
Here.

What the heck do I do with the white wire that is in the diode, if anything? There are only the red and black leads from the host.

It depends on what driver you're using but if the driver takes care of both the positive and negative contacs in the host than you can just forget about the white lead and cut it off.

It's a V5 FlexDrive, as hot option in the build specified. I believe it says it does, but I have no idea.

Just ignore the white lead. Cut it short so it doesn't get in get in the way and solder + and -.
