help with first build

hey guys, im a complete noob too lasers but a mate recently asked me to build him a ir laser as he would like to use it with his physics work, he has supplied me with a diode i believe it is 808nm and 300mw i have looked through the forms roughly and i would like to know what power regulators could be used to make a driver circuit? i have a spare mc7805 laying round would that be any use ? sorry for any noob questions

Noob + IR laser = bad idea. Even more dangerous than any other laser due to invisibilty.

hey thanks for the reply, i have built a laser before it was a 50mw 650nm laser, the driver was pre made witch is the only thing that i wish to be able to build before attempting this build a ir laser thanks for pointing me to your index guide im looking forward to read through later.
