Help with building first laser

Hey people, I'm relatively new to the board, but have picked up some very nice and interesting facts and lessons from a few members, thanks jayrob, darkarmyofone, Mohrenberg, whatsupadrian & crossfire.

So what I'm wanting to build to my understand is a 120mw blu-ray laser in a MXDL silver 3w host.

I know I'm a "noob" but other than the diode and host, what do I need, please be specific as this is the second attempt at making a laser, I've got a toolshed, but kipkays laser burner tutorial is full of junk and ive only learnt that those lasers dont work without drivers ;]

you will also need a driver and a heatsink.
EDIT:your host takes one CR123 battery so you will need a flexdrive.

That's what I wanted to know, flexdrive it is. When you said I need a driver, I thought... please tell me which!!! lol. so i need a flexdrive, and a heat sink.. what sort of heat sink??

Can anyone provide me with the process on building an MXDL 3w BR laser? I pretty much have the jist, but maybe a simple quick tip or 2.

you can ask jayrob to make you one heatsink or do it yourself if you have a lathe.

Okay, I'll ask Jatyrob about the heatsink.

about the PHR in aixiz is good for first build.set it to 100-110mA for longlife.
