Heatsink for MicroBoost and 445 laser

Hi All, I was wondering what I could use as a heatsink for my MicroBoost, I'm running it at 1A, and Dr.Lava (andrew) says it needs heat dissipation.
Also, would a crap-load of evenly-wound aluminum duct tape work for heatsinking around the Aixiz module. Im leaving for vacation in two days and really want to have a functional 445 laser by then, so please don't direct me to any online purchases.

I really appreciate any replies,

Duct tape will insulate, not heatsink. You can use the laser, just follow a duty cycle to ensure the driver and laser diode do not overheat.

Actually, laserboystuart, I am an avid book reader :D, but I was just wondering if aluminum duct tape would suffice as a slap-together temporary heat sink.

no, duct tape will do absolutely nothing, you need a heatsink.

How about a non conductive thermal compound between it and the host case? That should do you for the trip. Radioshack or frys should have you covered.

I think dude was talking about aluminum tape, not duct tape.

Still, that stuff has a lot of glue, probably wouldn't work too well.

some people here make decent heatsinks for a good price. Just check the pro shop or something

If you've got an AxiZ module you can do what I did which seemed to work in a pinch. I went to the hardware store and bought a bunch of copper washers with an inside diameter of 12mm. I stacked them about 12 deep over the Axiz casing and the used electrical tape wrapped around the outside edges of the washers to keep them all together.

So far it's keeping everything pretty cool but I still don't run my 445 diode for more than a minute at a time.
