does anyone know the dimensions on the dark house heat sink? i think i could build my own... but i don't know what size to make it so it'll fit into the dorcy jr. that i might make a laser out of.

ok... thanks... ill try emailing him first to see the dimensions and ill ask my dad how hard that would be for him to make... since he's most likely making the part. ill have to watch the videos of how to make the dorcy jr. into a laser a few more times just to make sure i knew what i'm doing. even thought i don't i'll still try :-/ ... still have to get the dvd burners from my dads friend... if i skrew up with 1 diode taking it out... theres at least 10 more waiting...lol... n thanks again for the email

Cool, like the "Bat-signal" ;D

Well, that is confidential information, if those dimensions became open-knowledge there would be people precision-machining in the streets-lol, just kidding, see the picture below, and let me know if you have any questions.
**BTW, don't tell anyone else, ;)**

wow...lol ow... i sat here for a couple minutes just trying to figure out what that stuff meant.... ok if i'm wrong u can make fun of me for it lol but i'm only 15 n i've taken manufacturing for a quarter at school...

i know the module is a half inch wide and the hole in the heat sink is .475 (of an inch)... so it'll be a tight fit i guess...

the .375 is how tall n i bet the top of the module is about that size.

the .795 is how wide? so the dorcy jr. is smaller then i thought

the small holes on the sides are for the screws that are "#6 screws"... to keep the module in place even more... and their .145 across...

and the thing thatgot me was the .010... i would guess that either for a rounded edge? or how thick it is from the inside edge to the outside edge?

n i cant tell anyone... because i just started on here a couple days ago n still can barley do anything.. ;D

The modules actually measure from .460-.475" in diameter, (12mm is just the nominal-dimension), the .010" is the max-chamfer/radius you should put on the edge, otherwise it could slip past the O-ring in the Dorcy-head. .795" is the outside diameter.
With all due respect, most people do not have the equiptment and expertise to measure, let alone actually machine these, if you are off more than .005" from the dimensions on the drawing, you will not be happy with the results, (that is about twice the thickness of a human-hair).  If these numbers do not make sense to you, you will have a long-road ahead of you, but good-luck.
Sincerly,

I knew this would happen, this is the burden I carry. I will have to retreat to my ice-fortress, naw, too cold this time of year, I am over it now, lol.
Gooey, if you can figure out how to manufacture something in the USA, that China will import, (beside raw materials), you would be a national hero!!
I am still laughing at the thought of "pulling out a lathe", the LeBlode lathe I machine these on weighs over 2-tons!, not exactly concealable. ;D

so putting the radius somehow holds the module... pretty sure my dad's work has a lathe for him to use... he used to work for this one place n he machined pretty much every day n they all had 2 be perfect so he'd most likely be able to do it.... yea... hopefully i get manufacturing again so by the time i'm a junior i'd be able to start making my own stuff on the lathe... thanks for the welcome... no card?... lol

If you do not add a radius at all, the edge will likely "snag" and not allow you to install the 'sink into the head, (almost like the diameter was too big). if your radius this edge too much, it will allow the 'sink to press past the o-ring that holds it in, I am very careful with these sort of details.
It sounds like your father would be able to make this for you. Let me know if you decide to buy instead. ;)

ALL I'M SAYING... is don't be surprised if you see these flashlights for sale on DX as lasers with the heat sink already in them.
