Hello, I wonder if it's worth the trouble to harvest this diod. Have been thinking of building my own for a while now ^^

Ok, I harvested it anyway since noone answered my question.
But now I'm a bit confused, which one is the IR diod and red diod?

Ruh Roh! The dreaded flat/square diodes. I don't know of any modules that can hold these diodes or a focusable lens for them so you can collimate the beam.

Hey don't be so quick to chuck it aside! I harvested a sled of an 18x burner, and found two diodes, a square open, and a closed round. Surprisingly, it was the closed round that is red! (I destroyed the square one when I saw it wasn't much use, so I can't test it. Maybe BOTH were red )

So always check to be sure!
