good or bad way to build dorcy laser?

i found this video on youtube trying to find a tutorial about how to make a dorcy laser and i was wondering if is a good way to build mine.

You have already posted this thread once! (actually it is the thread directly below this one at the time being). You shouldn't get ahead of yourself like you are. Asking over and over "is this build good" doesn't really get you anywhere. Are you talking about the host?, the driver? the diode? Please be more specific with your questions(in 1 thread). There are many members here that would be glad to help you as long as you show that you have done your research [Search] <-- button (Jerry).

Take a deep breath, step back for a moment.

As for that tutorial.. you ask "is this a good way to build mine" Well, they only assemble one way :thinking:

EDIT: .. I have gone through and read some of your threads.. You have done NO research! Unless you take your time with this you will most likley make a mistake with an outcome that you do not want.

How do you make a test load?
How do you set the current on your driver?
How many volts does a bluray diode need?
What (if any) is the voltage drop-off on your driver?
What wavelength is your diode?

You should be able to answer these before you start building your actual project.

But you're right - once the simple concepts are understood, assembling your own laser becomes relatively simple (other than some of the mechanical concepts, seating the diode, successful soldering, etc) which also can be made easier with a little research here on the forums.

Take a peek at the Pailide kits Mohrenberg is selling here on the "Buy Sell Trade" forum, they're nice looking, solid, and come basically preassembled (all you would need to do is buy a module with preinstalled diode - also available in the BST thread) and solder 2 wires...

Lastly DarkArmy is offering a complete build service for only $10 US and he is developing a good reputation for quality work, he will even assist you in outsourcing the required parts as part of that $10 service - might want to take a peek at that thread too.
