I realize we have many new members (thanks Styro!) and there is most certainly a glut of ridiculously simple questions that have been answered a million times over!!

Go to the bottom of the page, right now...I'll wait.

See that big search bar? Use it before asking where to get a green diode, or what diode burns best, or what company sells good lasers, or where to get goggles!

Don't like the results you get there? Here's an LPT to make your life better...go to google, and ask your question, but add "laserpointerforums.com:" to the beginning of your search!

This is getting freakin' ridiculous!

Help put a stop to this madness...There's actual worthwhile threads out there getting buried by B.S.

Thank you in advance.

I totally agree with this, Although a couple of years have passed I still use the lpf search, google search n etc.

But at the same time , I am really ashamed of some people's attitude towards the new members.
We all have been there in our beginings, Lets not use strong words or sarcastic approach with new members. They havent been here and have no idea what atmosphere we have created.. We should keep a slightly humble tone when telling them to follow the rules of lpf as they're not well aquainted with most of the stuff..

There are a certain amount of questions that has very straight forward and to-the-point answers!
But, at the same time multiple threads, contradictory explainations and tens of pages of discussion wouldnt help a noob at all.. He would defintiely ask for something very common to us!

So my suggestion to those who act like they put up with noobs, please dont, Let them be and let another person who can, and is yet humble enough to direct him or explain/verify the answer for their correct understanding!

P.S: Sounds like im contradicting to the thread, The Issue is still there Im just suggesting how to approach it, You cannot stop anyone from creating a thread, Once it is created what good can you do except to deal with it!!

Very well spoken, Sinner!

With any luck, a thread like this will be seen in their feed, and they'll follow its advice.

But, yes, we should treat noobs with respect, and concise answers, and hopefully let those kinds of threads fall to the back of the list. We all came here with simple questions in the beginning. Some empathy goes a very long way.

We need some kind of "noob team" so when a post like that comes up we PM the "noob team" and they can deal with it.

Haha! That's the most hilarious and most radical suggestion i have heard lately!
If thats so, Count me ! I'm in!

There must be a noob alert flag , so as soon as anyone spots one they alert the noob team by pressing that flag and it immediately sends an email with link to the thread!

ugh its bad, i legit answered a new members question and then he went crazy since i gave him an explanation and not a yes or no answer like he asked. apparently my answer was too much since he thought i was trolling him when i gave him a legit answer

is the world coming to an end or is it just that time of year?

EDIT: id gladly be part of the noob team.......ahhhhh that would be great! MAKING A LOGO TOMORROW for anyone who wants to rock it as their avatar  but seriously im making it

While I do agree newcomers should be treated with respect, I also do not believe they should be spoon fed.

Use concise short answers, and refer people to specific threads if it's a well documented question in some specing thread you happen to know, or search if it's a general question.

Also personal pet peeve - I will not answer emails or PM's if someone says lazor :p

c0ld probably did it in order to optimize the loading of LPF.

The search bar loads a bit slower than the rest of the forum, and on slower connections this has the annoying tendency of shifting everything down (in my case usually at the price instance I click on a link). I can't count how many times I have clicked on "View First Unread" only to have the "Post Reply" window come up.

I don't like the new logo, but I do like having less dead space at the top, and the search bar at the bottom.

With other forums, it´s typicial that people are getting a `welcome message´ as mail as soon as they registered. The most important stikies & tipps should be right there in this mail.

IE, for me the search bar always loads quickly, unless on mobile then its slower but its still not bad at all......i also agree on the spoon feed/actually helping dilemma.

a member asked if he could use 2x 16340 (3.7V) batteries in his laser. he was currently using 2x CR123 @ 3.0V and i politely posted a quote from the manufacture saying they recommend 2*16340 batteries. i then edited it to say in case you didnt know 16340 are 3.7V (4.2V fully charged). they thought i was trolling them or something since they went on about just answer the question and then posted the original question over again and said im looking for a yes or no answer

ughhhh broke the camels back right there. sorry your right, my bad, i should have just wrote yes or no. you learn more with yes or no answers......sorry i tried teaching you something related to your question, my bad
