... can be found inside the cords of old keyboard, mice, all sorts of cables for
computer accesories, USB cables for example.
There's 4 strands in it, black, red, and two other colors.

It's multistranded so it has adequate flexibility.
No it doesn't have sillycone insulation and it doesn't have a million strands,
so it doesn't have that "springy" consistency. That's about it.

I use it everywhere between driver and diode, even on my 1.5Amps labby build.

This stuff is inferior to the wire being sold here on the forum, but it works
just fine for my purposes and it is free when you look in the right trash bins,
because ball mice and old keyboards are being tossed out everywhere in large quantities.
Just one 2 meter cable lasts me a decent number of builds.

So if you need some laser wire but can't wait for shipping or feel like recycling
something for free rather than buying wire, hey, maybe you can be happy with
some USB wire, too.....

All this being said, the "luxury" wire being sold on the forum really is pretty awesome, I had never had the pleasure to work with such cool wire before.

This is not the BST forum. It's the "help and tutorial" forum.
I can give you a few inch free sample, if you pay the stamp,
but I'm rather telling you where you can find some yourself.

You know, "teach a man to fish...."

It's free because people throw it away.

It would really help a lot if you sent those 20,000 feet of
wire for free.....:D

I love free!!!!! I'll take 800815 feet please!!! :crackup::crackup:

Seriously though anselm. This thread is one example of why I love LPF. People just offering good advice, based off experience, for FREE!!!!:san:

Used to use it before I found FlayminPyro Wire. IIRC I read that a veteran builder here used it in his builds a while back. I see a lot of builds whee people where just getting started in this hobby and had very little money (like me) and used and free stuff they had laying around. Heck, that's half the fun some times!!!!! :D

So anyway, I just thought this was good of anselm to bring this to all the new member's attention who may not have know.

I usually just use wire from ethernet cables.

I find the Ethernet cable wires a bit too springy for some uses...
but cheap...LOL They are still good in a pinch..
The Alpha we had in the shop had those wires connecting to the
sensor and was a PITA to keep the small sensor in the Laser's beam
because it kept falling over... I think he has since changed to a more
flexible wire for the last batches...

I've been using wire from mouse cord for years, and it's great stuff!

But I use Pyro wire in most stuff now...

I use a fair amount of wire for the Maglite builds, and the FlexModP3 driver. Also for the Phaser 'Hot' option kits.

But I still use the smaller mouse cord wire in some other builds - right at the FlexDrives...

Our Keurig coffee maker just recently died. Their customer support was EXCELLENT, they just sent a new one, with one 3 minute phone call...

I took it apart for the water/air pumps for Halloween props. Inside it has some really nice, flexible, slick (silicone?) wire. looks like 24 gauge.

There's also a pair of solenoid water valves...
