Fix a Casio XJ-A140 that has been gutted for LEDs

Hi,
I have read on many forums that the Casio XJ-A140 is popular for its LED array, and they are often gutted for that reason. I found one on Craigslist for only a few $$ and I was wondering what it would take to replace the LED's and the Mylar connector that were taken from the array. Would it be possible to buy new ones from a Chinese dealer or the company itself, put them in, and have a working projector on the relatively cheap side. Anyone who could tell me if its possible or how to go about it will have my gracious thanks.

Unfortunately no, the reason people gut them from working projectors is because you can't obtain them as spare parts anywhere. It will be cheaper and easier to just buy a whole new projector.

You _could_ try fixing it using a huge array of high power blue LED's, however that is still pretty experimental at the moment, and definitely not a beginner task.

OK, thanks for the information. I was going to call Casio tomorrow anyway, since they might help out of the blue. Also, lets say I was interested in trying to replace with blue LED s what would that cost? I do have family that is into this kind of stuff, but can you give a bit of an outline if it doesn't take up your time? Also with that project nova, is that a relatively grounded project, or is that just for people who really know what they are doing?
O yea, what is a phat-light red LED worth?
Thanks for the quick replies.

Casio will probably be very reluctant to even talk about the blue array, let alone sell you one.

The PT-54 red LED is worth around $20ish.
