You still need a "test load" or also called a "dummy load" to set the current of your driver. That is if you didn't order the driver pre-set to your desired current.

and what 12v battery are you going to use? if you max out the voltage then you will be wasting a lot of energy to heat. a lot of member use 2 or of the 10440's or the 18500's for the rkcstr

I saw that too, but I dont agree with it. If you use 2 X 3.7 batteries it will fall out of regulation fast. When charged they have 4.2v, but it falls fast so heat is really not a problem when using 3. If you are still worried about heat you can add a silicon diode, and it will bring it back to regulation. An 1N4001 diode should work.

thank you tj. that actually explains my situation then... i have a phr in wicked core host that i bought from scopeguy... it is crazy strong, it only take 2 seconds to light white match... but it does not last along time on the 10440's. i just thought (i won't use the word assume with you anymore.. fool me once) that it was my crummy ultra fires.

so 3x 3.7v is best?

By test load you mean a 1 Ohm resistor ? im reading the pdf instructions for the driver on adjusting the current but its going over my head :(

k so what i understand from that is that i need an 1ohm and place it where the diode would go, but where is the driver in the picture and where do i acquire 1n4001 diodes, is there a pic or video on how to do this, yeah i know im really dumb but thats why im here... i understand i have to mesure the current, i know how to do that but how to i adhust it afterwards?

Here is a picture of the one I made. I purchased everything you see at Radio Shack. It isn't pretty but it works. The driver gets attached to the test load in place of the diode.
TestLoad2.jpg

The black wire you see gets attached to the -LD of the driver and the red wire gets attached to the +LD of the driver. You are doing a PHR (blu-ray) so you would be using the red wire after the 6th diode. Once you have it hooked up you turn the pot to set the current.

Here is a link for details on the rckstr driver

Hope this helps :yh:

NP. Not putting anyone down but 2 10440's wont last long, you need 3.
