First DIY burning red laser

Hi,
Since Australia is going to ban lasers, i have decided that buying parts and building my own red burning laser will be more safer than buying a pointer and risk getting it confiscated by customs. i plan on using the box style or try putting the laser in a gun shaped toy... flashlight seems too hard for my inexperienced hands...

I was thinking of buying the diode pre-installed in an aixis housing from stonetek.org
then i think i would want to order a micro driver from rkcstr.
I will use a switch i salvaged from a broken R/C car.
after that i will need batteries and a battery holder (not sure which ones i need, i think 2 CR2's will do the job)
Is that all, and can anyone help me with how to install the driver with the diode, im not sure which leads connect to which? i've read quite a few posts but they were for the flashlight style. I'm scared of breaking the diode and have to wait another 2-3 weeks for it to get shipped to Australia.

If you are using the above options a torch would not be a hard mod to do, just take it apart, take off any components from the round PCB and solder 2 wires to it.  You can stick your Aixiz into a stack of washers, as seen in various threads, to mount it.

as to soldering the LD, I think rkcstr has marked his PCB with the polarity for the LD, if so all you need is this........

Woot! i bought two lasers from jake21! a red burner and a blue ray. the red is box method but i dont know about the blue ray...

maybe im retarded, but that picture is tatally misleading, and i dont get it, the 2d picture is a lot more understandable IMO

like this one:

What could possbly be misleading about that??????
The red wire connects to a pin with an insulator (choice of 2.... I wonder which it is?)
The black wire joins to one without an insulator (choice of...now let me see, ah 1)

im also from australia and am planinng on making my own laser i have a 16x dvd burner to pull apart.
2 questions though:
1. i want to be able to use it to burn things so, do i need an Aixiz modual?
2. do i need to make a LDD or would just attaching a resistor work?
as you can tell im new to all this.
