I am purchasing the parts to assemble a 100mW blue laser as my first project over the holiday break. Below are links to my parts.

Host/power

Lens/diode housing/drivers

Diode

As you can see from the listing, the lens/housing already has drivers to save me some trouble.

I've been reading the following posts and they have given me some confidence for my build. :yh:

I have 2 questions that I know the community can answer.

1) Will the flashlight's 2AA battery compartment's power be regulated by the drivers of the laser housing, or will it be too much for it?
2) How will the laser be powered with by the AA compartment? Should I solder some wires?
3) I asked the AixiZ seller and he said that the drivers should be compatible with the diode, but just to make sure I'd like to ask this community.

After examining it, I'm worried about space in the flashlight host. I'll have to sort that out. Any advice for assembly day? :thanks:

Uhh, your links are not working, "Page Not Responding" error.

Well, from what I've understood, you're going for bluray build in a minimaglite.

Maglites might be good for actual lights... but for laser hosts, they suck - the twist on/off system is going to ruin a whole lot of days for you, possibly diodes too.
It's difficult wiring a diode and properly giving it heatsinking without bending it's pins while turning the laser on/off.

Forget the whole Kipkay videos - he's a very ignorant man and is much hated here on LPF.

I'm guessing it's his red laser "hack" in maglite. Take a closer look, how do you think he's turning the laser on or off? There is no way to twist the head since it would break it's pins. He's simply removing the tailcap to make the laser stop working.

Also, diode powered in that way will die very soon since the current is not regulated.

Maglites also have very little room for any sort of additional electronics inside of them and fitting any driver inside is very difficult.

May I reccomend another host? This is one of my favourites:
DealExtreme: $10.90 C6 DIY Cree LED Flashlight Full Casing/Shell with Driver Pill (2*CR123A/1*18650)

It's much more awesome in real life :) Ask Jayrob here, he can sell you a complete kit for the laser here (heatsink, contact PCB in the driver pill, if you want he can sell you the driver too).
This host also holds one 18650 lithium ion cell which is the best cell to use in lasers around. Lasts very long time, can give a lot of current.

So that's about it. Time to start your idea anew.
