Default DVD burner

I have the diode out of a DVD burner (Nearly anyway. I can see it, figuring out how to remove.)

It has three points.

Will this work?
LED Driver Circuit Board for Cree MC-E/SSC P7 2.7-4.2V - eBay, Passive Components, Electrical, Industrial. (end time 02-Sep-10 20:12:32 AEST)

So I just connect battery to Driver circuit and then Driver circuit to Diode, right?

Also, where to get an axis laser module. Do I need one?
