I have a 16x dvd burner diode, adjustable flexdrive, the o-like 5.6mm diode housing with glass lens, test load, and a handbuilt host of a Darth Vader lightsaber replica i built using instructions from lightsabers from the big yellow box that i rigged to run on 2 CR123 batteries. The only problem, i am not sure how to set the amperage going through the driver, and what is the test load for? Could anyone give me step by step instructions on doing everything, including soldering what to where?
Thanks,
The Sushi Ninja!

Well... If you read the forum rather than just posting to it you'll see these questions have been answered hundreds of times already...

You'll want to solder the test load to the output of your flexdrive, hook it up to batteries, then hook your multimeter across the test load's resistor and measure the voltage. 1mV=1mA.

It really depends on the diode, there are several to choose from.. Try this link. It contains the info you seek.. To get an extra long life out of your lasers, take the published maximum current figures you find listed in this link and subtract 10%.

EDIT Didn't see that you said 16X diode. Check the link.. it's there..
