Dilda blu-ray

Ok so long story short this guy bought a dilda it broke very fast gooeygus took it turned it into a blu-ray... I was wondering how he did this cause the two batteries that the dilda uses supplies too much current for the flexdrive and too little for a rkcstr driver....any ideas would be appreciated

Thats a good question, I remember seeing a thread about it a long time ago. I think the rkcstr driver can run on 7.2V with 2 cr123 please don't quote me on that, it's 1am here and I'm very sleepy :-X

I won't don't worry...I thought blu-rays needed a 8.2v input to work...but like I said above...it's too much for the flexdrive and too little for rkcstr...

2x 3.6v li-ion batteries produce 8.4v on a full charge.. Just barely enough for a rkcstr driver. Once the batteries start to sag it'll drop out of regulation and the laser will dim as the batteries die.

If you want to do it with flexdrive its possible with just one CR2 and a Spacer.
But this will result in poor battereie life.

K rkcstr driver it is....what batteries should I use? The 3.6v ones may work...I'll experiment after the holidays and tell you guys what I find

Uh, what? Too much current for the Flexdrive? Do you mean voltage? Batteries are, ideally, supposed to be able to supply infinite current.

Gooey probably just used the two regular CR2 batteries and put some rectifier diodes in series with them to drop the voltage to lower levels. Dr. Lava himself suggests this.

Run the 2 CR2's in parallel, use a different battery type, use one CR2 with a spacer. ETC many many possibilities.

So you guys think I should use the flexdrive with 1 cr2 (3.6v right?) and put that in? Or am I on the wrong track?

No you understand right, flexdrive work from 2,5 - 5,5Volt.
Flexdrive automaticly supply the diode with correct Voltage because it contains a step up circuit.

Like I know CR2 are only available as 3,0 Volt nominally, but this is ok for the flexdive.

So you are saying to put 1 1n4001 diode before the flexdrive to drop the current to drop the current 5.3v ? How muchbattery space is in the dilda? Cause I might be able to find a good battery type....

Goddamn! People make things so complicated...
When you are buying the flexdrive, ask drlava to include a rectifier diode. Then solder it in series to the + battery terminal on the flexdrive. Put in two CR2 batteries. Enjoy.
