What the hell is heatsinking and how do i do it and what is a short duty cycleis?

Have a read of this thread - http://laserpointerforums.com/f51/making-my-first-laser-52088.html. In post #8 I briefly explain what heatsinking is for and what a duty cycle is.

There is also some information about drivers and host selection.

Hope this is helpful too but as Dave suggests... Start with the the stickies...
