can someone plase tell me how to find out how much current my diode would need?

If it's a 1N4001 diode then it depends on the current of your load...

I have no idea what kind of diode you are referring to.... :-?

If you are referring to a Laser Diode of a specific wavelength...
then that info is surely in a thread/post on the forum...

I suggest that you take the time to read the information on the forum
thread/posts and if the information you require is not posted...
Then... by all means ask....
