Button broke? E2 Wicked Laser Green

So a few years back I bought a "Wicked Laser". E2, 500mW, green. I've only used it maybe 6 times since then because its expensive. Well today my dad "borrowed it" to play with the cats (to chase it, it doesn't burn). Well he gave it back a few hours later and said it broke. I checked and button is pushed in BELOW where it should pop out. I've tried everything to fix it but can't.

Does this mean I am screwed and have to buy a new one?

Also someone told me to just get this one... is it any good?:
Spyder 3 Lunar Purple Handheld Laser

I wouldn't mind the 3,500mW but I imagine that is one you can't even point at something because it would catch it on fire.

Buy from somewhere else other than WickedLasers if you're going to buy another. You can get a better product, for a better price with better service elsewhere.

Ah ok. Any recommendations? I tried looking before but there are so many laser sites not sure which are quality and which are just cheap junk.

Sanwu lasers is the place to go. They have great prices and extremely durable lasers:)

Sanwulasers.org should be the right place I think:beer:

On your Evo, remove the battery compartment. Unsolder the spring/contact board, remove them gently. Gently pull out the driver board, than you can use a long thin screw driver to push the button out of the button hole from the inside. You will have to unplug the wires going to the switch/button from the driver board, just remember which way it gets plugged back in. After the button pops out maybe you can r&r it, hopefully. ~~~ you can unplug all the wires on the driver board to give you some more room to work, just remember which is which and which way ~ ( I take pictures just in case ) hope this helps.

Thanks! Sorry, forgot to check if there was a guide. Yeah that Sanwu looks good!

Ashame I don't know how to solder things or I could probably try it.

That's what I was going to say, use a 5mw to play with your cats, they will sooner or later catch the beam in their eyes and even though its moving you seriously risk blinding your cat. Not cool.

Was thinking, if you don't want to get into the unit, the top part of the button does come off. If you use a exacto knilfe and pry off the top part maybe you can r&r it from there. Anyways food for thought

Oh trust me I yelled at my dad about it. I told him it was NOT a toy. I thought he was going to use it for something else. Even if it splits up after hitting glass, a beam can blind anything. He didn't know, but to be fair my dad never had a good education. And we did end up buying a 5me red laser for him to use.

And that company someone posted showed me a good match for what I had. Except its blue, which if I recall has more power to it. Only $90.

Depending on where you're located, there are a few people on here that may lend you a hand repairing it. If you don't feel like you can do it yourself that is. It seems silly to let that expensive laser go to waste for a bad switch.
