Default Bright flash then dim

I recently ordered a laser kit from odicforce with the LPC-815 diode. I assembled everything and when I turn it on I get a very bright flash of red for a fraction of a second then the output goes very dim (like I can only see it in the dark). It does this each time I turn it on. I'm not sure what to do to fix it.

Details: The power supply ran my test load (an led) just fine and consumed 200mw of power just as it was supposed to. Also the switch works just fine because when I bypass the switch the laser does the same thing. I'm not sure where my problem might be.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Bit of googling returned this Focusing Laser Host with Matching High Power Red Laser Diode Driver - Detailed item view - OdicForce Lasers Online Shop So I'm going to go with two 3v CR2s.

I picked up a pair of energizer CR2's from bestbuy, (I would have gotten the rechargeables but I was pretty excited for it)
