Hi quick question(s)

just got my new pointer in the mail today.

I took a pliers and untwisted the focus cap and got most of the crappy glue out from the threads. Although it is still a mofo to twist and turn without having totuse the pliers. Is there any tips to make it twist nice and smooth without harming anything>?

Also I was wondering what is the safest way to unscrew and remove the lens without putting 1 single hairline scratch in it>? Finally, how far in (deep) or shallow (higher) should my lens be sitting? here is a picture of what it looks like straight out of the box without any tampering.

My last? is..the button to turn on the laser sits very very shallow almost sits flush with the metal body...is there anyway to put something in between the space so the button not only

sticks out and has a solid push/click..but so it doesn't fall into the host

Why are you taking your new laser apart? What are you trying to accomplish? Make it an adjustable focus?

I love my lens tool. There are lost of machinist these days here on LPF. Search around and see if someone will make you one.

For your switch... can you disassemble it? It shouldn't be too hard to shim the button a bit and make it easier to push.

TWarne already covered the other questions...

The lens should sit as deep or as high as it needs to, so that when the laser is on, it is focused to infinity, or whatever focus you prefer. This takes a bit of playing around with to adjust.

I took a tweezers and placed some foam in between the gap...but then the driver bent upwards so i quickly but carefully took out the foam

Oh. I see in your other thread that this host is a Side Button. Yeah. You really should stop messing with the guts. You will be bummed when you kill it.

Good luck. Let us know how it goes. I'm very curious to see how long it takes you to kill your new laser.

PS What happened to your 700mW?
