ah, gotcha. well hopefully i can lathe out a nice one from aluminum.
and true, but close enough hah. closest to blue without spending a few grand on a 473nm atleast.

just out of curiosity. is there any common mistakes first time laser builders experience?
im aware of that you cant expose the LD to heat for too long. anything else?

I think that you have already pointed out the number one mistake, too much heat.

I think the second would be physically damaging the diode, ripping off a pin, "smacking" the can, breaking the window

Third is ESD (maybe 2 & 3 would be tied for second)

alright, i already planned to be extremely delicate with it, but oh my, i entirely forgot about ESD. is there some secret way to easily prevent it? dont you have to like touch a grounded piece of metal or something?

is there anything DX doesnt have? ill have to order that along with whatever host i get.
