6x diode in kenom barrel and complete circuit

I was just curious if anyone knew the answer to this....

I'm finishing up my 6x/kenom barrel/lavadrive build, and was wondering about running the negative through the case, such as most pen style's do (or positive, doesn't really matter). Anyway, with most diodes the ground is the pin which connects to the diode housing itself, so just having the diode in the head of the barrel would complete the circuit. But, with the 6x diode, both the positive and negative pins on the diode are isolated from the case. So, if I were to just put a spring on the positive end of the driver, My guess is it wouldn't complete the circuit because the neg pin on the diode is isolated. So, what is the best way to make sure the circuit gets completed? I know I could add another spring to touch the body of the barrel but I'd rather not have to. I'm sure someone has done this before... Any tips?

Why not just use a bit of solder to short the pin to the diode's base
I was going to do that on mine but decided not to at the last minute. I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Not sure is this will help you...But, with my 6 X build, I'm using a DDL driver. (which connects the negative side of the battery through the host)

Because of the pin configuration of the 6 X diode, I wasn't sure if I could allow the LD case to be grounded to the battery negative as well as the other pin that is already connected to the driver.

Since the LD case is grounded in it's original condition (within the DVD drive), I went ahead and chanced it first with my 2 X diode, and then with my 6 X diode! No problems! :)

With this information, we know that the two pins can be connected to each other. In fact, when you are doing the harvest, you can see that the solder flow is connecting the two pins together in the drive.

As far as the Kenom barrel/Lavadrive, you have two wires from the driver to the LD correct? So, you just need to complete the circuit from the batteries to the driver negative and positive... (negative to LD, like a DDL driver, would bypass the lavadirver - I believe) Hmmm, you better ask drlava about this. You wouldn't want to bypass the driver. I need to know the answer to this too! Please post back!
Jay

Edit: I just read in Lava's instruction sheet that "the battery ground does not have to be connected if the diode gnd is battery gnd and case connected, because the battery and diode ground traces on the board are continuous."

I built the 6x into a Kryton over a month ago. I shorted the (-) pins together and I am using a 5v LDO with series pot as a driver. No Sweat ;D

So you shorted the negative and the one thats connected to the case of the diode (the one without the black isolator)? I'm 99.9% sure thats what you mean, but I dont want to waste $270 so I figured I would just make sure ;D

Oh.. by the way.... Your barrel is veeeerrrrrryyyy nice. I love the purple, it matches the nitrous oxide bottle in my car :D

Yes -- I tied the LD- and the case together. I'm tired of poor connections and cheep switches causing low power problems.
