So I am new to this dyi laser scene, so say I want a 300mW Green Laser(most likely 542nm) and I wanted to build it myself.
1. Where does one go about getting a diode like this?
2. What is needed in order to power this?
3. What is the best type of housing?

Pretty much I am curious in how one goes about figuring all these things out and building my own.

Here's the a link to the last time I answered this question, I don't really feel like writing it out again:

Green lasers are DPSS lasers, significantly more complicated to make than red or violet lasers which are a simple diode. They involve special crystals and aligning them to extreme accuracies. Not really an option for your first DIY.

Welcome to the forums, read a bit before you continue posting.

you shouldn't even be asking how to build a green laser if you're gonna ask this type of questions and also can't even get the wavelength correct. does looking at above my post count ring a bell?

do you even know the theories of a green laser? ::) you have to know something theoretically before going practical isn't it? sorry but i'm just sick of ambitious people who don't know their stuff but act like they ask intelligent questions. it's not that you're not welcomed in this forum though.

If you have the money, you can get the parts for a 250-300mW 532nm green DPSS laser from Susie's o-like website. At $270, it's actually a pretty good deal.
