I'm textinhbfrom my phone. I'm not worried about my spelling. Why u have to be such a A-hole? All I did was ask a question and screwed up the title. Does it make u feel more of a man or what? I just wanted a little knowlage from some veterans.

2 Dont swear.
3 Get a clue.

How do replace a battery pack? Check the stats of your old one and buy another. You must own a multimeter. Do you know how to use it?

i didnt know u couldnt use bad language.....but still there is no reason for you to be so rude. not everyone knows everything about this stuff.

Standard issue Clues were at discount in your local home-improvement store just the other day! Hurry, you might still catch them!

@T_J, ofcourse he knows how to use his multimeter. Problem is that the battery in the multimeter is dead.

yes i own a mm and yes i know how to use it. i have soldered my own driver board and dummy driver board. i have some knowlage. jujst stop putting me down.

ROFL

The thing is, you come here saying you are an electrician who knows everything but you post threads that show that you know nothing. Then when someone tries to point you in the right direction you snub it away and demand that someone lay it all out in front of you. That's not cool, and it pisses people off.

If you want, just send me the laser and $50 and I'll change the battery for you. Because obviously you can't do anything for yourself or refuse to do anything yourself.

OK Mr. Smarta$$ Electrician.

First of all, a Vf of Bluray laser diode is 5 V.

Second, laser diodes require a constant current source, not constant voltage.

Powering one from battery is done via current regulators.

If you powered your bluray from 9.6 V, that means you use some form of LM317 or LM1117 linear step down regulator.

LM317 which is fairly common, has a Vdrop of around 2.5 V.

That means you must have 2.5 V + 5V (laser diode powered) from your power supply.

You can, therefore, use anything from 7.5 V to the maximum of 12 V.
You will notice the datasheet of LM317 saying that it can handle 35 V.

But, with Vf of load of only 5 V, any excess voltage above 7.5 V will turn into heat, because LM317 simply burns of extra voltage as heat.

But I'm sure you already knew that.

All the info you need is there, dude!
Search in FAQ and "stickies" sections, they provide many many answers to the questions you will have.

Is it so difficult to search for info in FAQ , instead of asking it?
I mean, if you need help assembling something, you sure are not the first to need it!
That is why FAQ and Stickies sections were created!

To help you!

All you have to do is read it. It would have saved you a lot of trouble and anger towards the forum and it's members if you would have done so immediately.
