Hi, this is my first post, so please go easy on me :yh:
What you'll need :
  • 3405 Host
  • 445nm Laser diode
  • 18650 Li-ion Battery
  • O-like housing
  • And basic electrician kit.

Start by putting all your components next to each other, this will help you trust me ;)

This is the modded battery contact holder. It is modded such that the contact is about 1cm deep, this to make room for the battery.

Fit the contact inside. It will fit snugly.

This is how the 18650 will fit inside.

Solder wires from the battery contact to the driver.(Centre positive, case negative)

Prepare the diode inside the housing and solder it to the driver.

I used a custom milled heat-sink for the module. And added Thermal compound

Insert the module and clean it, trust me, it will be full of thermal compound.

Assemble everything inside host. You should be happy to see that the 18650 will fit perfectly inside :D

TIPS:
  • Cut wires to exact lenght before fitting everything together or you will risk pinching a wire.
  • Use an anti static strap ( in my case, I touched anything which was wired to earth) before handling laser diode.
    [*]IMPORTANT; use saftey goggles/glasses !
~~~
:thanks: for viewing, hope you like it :D and leave feedback and tips :)
Well here's a newb who is not a newb at all.:eek:
Very nice build. I'm a sucker for O-Like modules, one was used in my first build as well.
How are you coping with the fact that the lens is so hard to grad and adjust?
What driver is that and what current is it set at?
+1 for reading before posting
At first I found it a little difficult to do so, but for now, I settled on a piece of drilled plastic which fits snugly on the lens to focus more easily. I have some ideas about a focusing aid though.
As for the driver, I am using a preset 1.1A driver from aixiz-ebay. The only difficulty using this driver was the soldering, due to its small size, but it turned out out to be awesome! :)
