Why No Red Diode Compilation Thread?

The title pretty much says it. Why not?

Ive built 2 445nm and want to build a red but theres no thread to see what diodes are safe to run at what current.:wtf:

there's already ALL diodes compilation thread, including REDs. there aren't many red diodes (most common is LPC-815, others are just LDs extracted from random DVD drives) and LOTS of tutorials and builds by other members.
what more do you need? ... aah yeah I know, you need that SEARCH button LOL :D

There are also complete red modules for sale on DX, etc. That is the most easy way to build your own red laser.

The most commonly used red diode is the LOC (long open can) Mitsubishi diode from the LPC-815 20X DVD writer sled.
This diode's discovery made the other red diodes obsolete for our use due to the capability of more power and the cheapness of the sleds.

Google image search "Dr. Lava's Diode roundup" and you will find a graph of several diodes measuring current vs. output power.

Yeah I could either search for every build that uses lets say a LPC-815 diode and gather my own data on what people set the current at and what mW resulted. Compile it all into a spread sheet and then I would have some useful information for this single build of mine.

OR there could be a compilation thread like can be found in the 445nm section for which only 2 diodes even exist in the hobby thats lists this information in an easy to understand organized fashion. This way the work only has to be done once and can be utilized by all.

This is a completely legitimate thread and question. Id even start a compilation thread myself if I had more knowledge about the red diodes.

It seems like some peoples sole existence on a forum is to pimp the search feature. Im all for it when necessary but as I type I have a dozen tabs up from the search feature. A dozen tabs of scattered information is not as helpful as a single spreadsheet and I believe the entire purpose of a forum is to make access to knowledge easier.

Thank you. I will. I searched terms like "safe current" and "current list" but found nothing.

I read through that thread as well. I guess im just looking for something like

It was immensely helpful with my 445nm builds as I could see what people were getting as well as the amount of variance. Im just surprised with how long these red diodes have been around no one has done this and with how new the 445nm are there is already a wealth of data. :thinking:
