VGreen....I used THAT host in the Tridentis...Skyray 6000lm correct ???...WORKS GREAT !!! But...I gutted the inards...Whadda waste !!! Momentary I/O switch DOES crap out....found that to be true !!

Moding the battery compartment is a bit tricky !!! For the need is for a two (2) cell @ 18650 ...x 2...but....doable !!! ( 2 IN SERIES X 2 PACKS IN PARALLEL = 8.4 VDC)

A great aspect is that there is a screw-in internal Ally plate/bulkhead. This plate is used to mount the three (3) LED units. The plate can be used to secure the heat sink with a single 1/4-20 bolt !. Does the base unit come with that internal plate ???. Would be a great addition....and should be inexpensive !!......and at $ 15 a pop with no internals.....PERFECT !!...I will be watching for a GB !!!

Thanks for the answers guys. I did some research within a few days now and I think I found a perfect host for these diodes in a portable.
They're virtually similar to jayrobs Saik SA-305 but will house 4x 18650 batteries!
I ordered two samples and will load pics if anyone is interested in these. But, I'd have to order 100 from them so I guess a group buy? I can get them for $8.67 each + whatever the shipping will cost. Cases only, you'd need to get a heatsink made for it for your cmount diode or any diode you feel like using.

Okay...so some thoughts. It seems like making a fixed focus 5W 650 Handheld is not too far out of the question pending completion of the driver Lazeerer is working on. I mean, I guess I am thinking you would just have your machinist make a host that has a place to mount the C-Mount Diode, and then a 50-60mm long hole(depending on lens used). At the end of the hole, you could have a tiny lip that you could attach your lens to. I feel like I will need to draw a picture to get my point across though lol.

No doubt any of the machinists here could make a custom host for these. The real question is "Are your pockets deep enough?" haha

I think you might of missed this.

^That laser is actually doing 3.2W now at 4A after the lens. It is very easy to machine a C-Mount setup.

There is other option then to wait for me to finish the driver. (Do not wait as you might be waiting for some time.)

I would say 3-4W would be a good power for a handheld for these diodes. I would not push any more.

5W can really only be done with thermal regulation. Handhelds are pretty limited in space to do such a setup. C-mount diodes and red diodes in general like to run cool and or regulated with TEMP and iam pretty confident to say that they dont like temp change. I personally would keep it At ~<4A +/- some. Softstart will help too.

There is No error room at these powers.

An example would be the Huge power difference with the 638nm Mitsu P73 diodes with TEMP regulation. These are no different.

Regardless 3W-4W is ridiculously bright.

The couple of builds Ive done so far for 2 people have all been set to 3W and Peaking anywhere from 3W-3.3W. They have been blown away with the brightness and there happy that the diode will live a long life.:p

Only if you guys where here the other night to see the beams in the night misty sky. It was NUTS>!!!

Next time i will record a video.:D

My spectrometer was suppose to arrive on the 15th but there was a delivery issue. "AKA the package went missing" So i ordered another one and the seller was kind enough to give me a break on the second unit. So i should have it in next week.(I held my rant back.:p)

That sucks!

You'll love your spectrometer though, I know I sure used mine quite a bit when I got it, measured everything I had :p

Angelos: "Damn...spectrometer got lost in the mail..." *calls the seller* "Hey I need to order another spectrometer....thanks!"

Any other person: "WHAT THE FUCK OF HELLS MY PACKAGE GOT LOST?!!!!! HELLFIRE SHALL REIGN FROM MY FINGERS AND NEWBORNS SHALL CRY AGAINST THEIR MOTHERS' BREASTS BECAUSE THE FIRE SHALL HEAT UP THE MILK TO LESS DESIREABLE TEMPERATURES!!!!!" And then I would go rock myself in a corner while I wept tears of bitter loss.

Just something I noticed.

Want to read my rant's about it.:p

I flipped a shit. It was the first package i ever lost and it had to be something that was 300$.LOL

I dont care for the money but the simple fact that the post man that did my route that day was his first day on the streets and he said he delivered it. Which is a Lie as i got the mail seconds of him leaving. I just hate people who lie.

(I think he keeped it or delivered it to the wrong house and lied so he doesn't loose his job.) I rained hell at the post office. I was so mad and still am. I told the seller i will pay fully for the second one but he said he will give me a break on it and if the first one turns up to return it. Its pretty messed up. Ive lived here my entire adult life. All the post man know me and all the people that work at the post office no me because i get so many packages a day that they sort or i ship.

lets just say they never seen that side of me.:p I dont think they plain on loosing any more of my packages.:p

Speedy they where under $800 for a complete package that included everything Glasses batteries warranty etc... The hosts used where 100$ hosts. Ill post picutres if they give me the OK.

Wut.

@Angelos-
Minus batts and goggles, just diode, host, lens, and driver. What are these running? I've got red glasses on the way already.

All I saw was his post about him ordering a new one. I guess all his frustration had been vented earlier but it made it sound like he was very nonplussed about it. Clearly that was not the case.

You can get the diode in the DTR shop here
As for the lense you can choose this
The rest is up to you

Wasn't sure if the $100 estimate was host +HS or just the custom milling, then host is up to you. Seems cheap for the large amount of aluminum going into these.

Still, fair enough.

Focusing these to infinity, with the "lip" idea mentioned earlier, would it be acceptable to put a thin layer of clear epoxy on this lip, and setting the lens on top? In my sleep deprived mind (almost 24 hours O.O) it seems feasible. I just want a beautiful red beam.

Would 2 1.5-2A drivers work well?

When I read this correctly, he said that the host his was building one of the lasers costed $100. Additional machine work not included. You can get a less expensive host or a more expensive host

Well...I've ordered the 650 C from DTR....Here we go....down a long road of experiments...This one will need a special host...See the pic for what I would like the host to look like !!! hahaha !!!..."Duck Rogers in the 21st Century"
