Hey, welcome to the forums!

I would not buy from yourlasers.com, you can find a great high quality red laser on here built by members for $50.

if u want a fairly powerful laser at a good price I would recommend getting a laser from laserpoint.com. I have seen a lot of bad reviews about them but I decided to take a chance and ordered a 200mW violet laser for around 25$. It took around 28 days to come but it was free shipping from china. I got it a few days ago and it works much better than I expected and it will do the things you said you want in a laser like pop balloons, light matches, light fireworks, burn through electrical tape and even burn marks into wood in seconds.

here is a link: Professinal 200mw 405nm Adjustable Focus Violet Purple Laser Pointer Set with Lighting Match Function (Black) in US$ 25.19 on Sales - Free Shipping

Wowow...Do not buy from laserpoint.com

Their lasers are of terrible quality and are most of the time under-spec.

mine works fine

Yes they work, but laserpoint.com is known to not be of high quality, and I do not want him to buy a low-quality laser :)

If you want a good laser just check out "Livinloud's" thread in the General section.

Well i know you said you were looking to buy one, but have you thought of making one?

With $50 you could easily pull together some nice modules and a driver with plenty to spare, then you could either buy the diode or just lookout for some old DVD-Burners, 16x and above Easily Light matches instantly and burns tape, plus its bloody rewarding making it yourself.

i think i've seen members on here (i'm fairly new) who machine torch style housings etc and sell them for a good price so you could also look at that if you were going to go down the DIY route.

if this interests you can PM me if you want and i'll be happy to help where ever i can.

Well, look at that. That idea never even came to mind to me, that's a great idea and a DIY laser will definitely give you pride and satisfaction :undecided:

+Rep for the great idea!

Which lazerpoint.com lasers did you test?

Wanna send me a link to your lazerpoint.com reviews? I fails to find them when browsing in your thread-statistics.

On a side note, I got many lazerpoint.com lasers, happy with all of them - for the price I paid
