That's a shame that you spent so much on the Flex-Drive. You CAN use a Mohgasm linear with a single battery on a typical 650nm red. I have one that I drive with a 3.7V 18650.

That being said, I have the Flex-Drive and enjoy it. It's just not powerful enough to handle my high-current builds.

Not too sure what you're trying to say.. I was going off inspiration from another B50 build that i posted up top.

I'm sorry. I simply meant that one can drive most red diodes with a Moh linear and a single 3.7V battery.

Driving a red diode with a moh linear and one cell WILL work. BUT! I measured mine with 2 generic 16340's vs one good 18650:

2 Cells: 255mW
1 Cell: 67mW

Ya know, Isaac...you have a helluva point! I'm going to wire mine up to two 3.7s and see if I can tell a great difference. It's already a fair burner...Damn it! I left it at work!

Tomorrow.

Which diode is it? DTR's 650nm? Because that is the one I was testing it with...are you using a 378mA Linear Driver? And with a single cell it is a good burner???

Let me be more specific:

It is DTR's 650nm. I've got it driven @ 478mA, using a 3400mAh 18650. It's not a "good" burner, but it will slowly burn through electrical tape. I may have to consider shorter batteries!

I'll hook it up to my PSU tomorrow and power it @ 9V and ramp the current up to 600mA to see what is does then. When one starts off in this hobby with 405nm's, one doesn't expect a blinding red when below 500mA.

At the focal point, mine lights a match near instantly. And that is at 255mW with a 378mA Driver...yours should be pumping out a good deal more  or atleast a decent beer....do you have any 16340 Batteries?

As a matter of fact, I just removed a brand new pair from my sales thread. My diode is homeless ATM, but I'll likely put it into another C-6 host. If I modify the springs, do you think it would fit both?

If your laser fits one 18650, it will fit both 16340s...if it doesn't, then trim the springs ever so slightly.

Yeah...either way, I'll need a host first. Maybe I can trade someone my old MXDL for one or an aurora.
