Hey guys,
Im aware that the red laser is 250-300Mw
but... how much Mw would the Infa-red laser be ?
I think i need to use the infa-red laser because i think i poped the laser diode when i was taking it out of the convering... the metal thing...
Its hard to take it outt :(

Would a 395mA Ghost drive 2 laser with Runing on 4AA batteries burn the laser diode...
because i bought the things for trhe red diode.. But them unfortunetly i poped it

What do you think ? 295mA is already killing current and 395mA send them faster to laser heaven.

If 250-300Mw needs 395mA to run, then how much would 200-250Mw need ?

I have an lpc-815 build, iv got the red diode set at 490ma (in a bigish copper heatsink)and i have got the IR diode set at 250ma. they both work perfectl.... you are using your IR 780NM DIODE.. SO SET IT AT 250mA or less than 250mA. ;) My IR diode is in a 18650 host with a heatsink, it burns well even up to a few feet away, i use it as an IR ILLUMINATOR for my image intensifier... so to round it all up. LPC-815 IR DIODE = 250mA be careful theyre deceptfully powerful ;)

I popped one of the IR diodes in these at about 300mA some time ago.

I also had the beam cross my eye when playing around with one of these IR diodes hanging from test clips. I saw a brief red flash for probably a tenth of a second. It was probably running at about 100 or 150mA at the time and I was lucky there were no lasting effects. My eye was a bit blurry for the day but I earned a new respect for IR after that. I still don't have IR goggles and won't play with one until I get some.

Thanks guys, appreciated.
Im making my laser atm, so all i need to build it is
1. Axiz module
2. Red laser from the Lpc-815 sled
3. Ghost drive 2 set at 395mA
4. Heatsink for the axiz module
5. 4AA batteries with switch between the ghostdrive and the batteries
6. Solder and soldering iron

^ and wire. and probably some arctic silver adhesive and some thermal compound

its thermal adhesive and thermal compound. they are usually made for computer heatsinks, but are good in the laser hobby iswell, they both conduct heat, so can be used between the heatsink and host, and the adhesive one is adhesive, meaning it glues loose heatsinks to the host while still keeping good heat dissipation throughout, the compound is just a paste and doesnt stick them together
