so if im a few feet away from my friend and hes shining the laser in the sky at night should i be able to see it?  just a little dissapointed in what i ordered because i was expecting a solid beam at night but the burning part sounds good,

thanks, also mine wil be a 300ma, yours was a 200ma?

Yes, I am currently running it at 200mA. At 300mA yours should be about 50mW to 100mW brighter. So to answer your question, I don't know if someone a few feet away from you would be able to see the beam. I just know that with mine, it is barely visible. You need fog, smoke, lots of moisture, or just lots of dust in the air in order to see it well.

Don't be disapointed. I was at first, but I have grown to love it's burning capabilities. ;)

For a good visible beam at night, a 15mW or more green laser works great.

im shure you will, btw does anyone know if a 16x sony diode pre press fitted in an aixiz module could be pushed out and re press fitted but with a 22x diode from a bluray sled? thanks

Yes, You should be able to do that, but you will likely destroy the diode that is currently in the aixz module. If I where you, Just get a new modual. They are cheap!

I just bumped my current up to 275mA.   I can now burn white paper.  I will let you know if I can see the beam at night once it gets dark.

FYI:(keep your run times low.  This sucker gets warm rather quickly now.!! ;)

EDIT:

It is now starting to get dark.  You can see the beam a lot better now, but it still doesn't stand out to your eyes like what my 15mW green does.  What I have found out, is that I can now light insense, cigarets, an cigars.  It has increased my burning capabilities significantly.

just finished my build, ended up going with a 22X DIODE AND POPPING OUT THE 16X because it got fried, 415 MA, after testing it it could burn through anything dark colored, including hard plastic tool boxes, lights matches with ease, haven't tried cigarettes or other things yet, really clean build, looks great. my dad who was a major in electrical engineering at stanford overheated the diode then i did it and it worked out fine. pics coming soon
