Hi everyone. I received my 200mw old style "dilda" yesterday from o-like. It came with a charger and batteries. The order took about 2 days to ship and 8 days to get here. Very fast shipping and quick friendly confirmation from Susie.

I charged the batteries until green and tested it out. The first thing I noticed was that the focusing lens was very loose. I'm not sure if this is common, but just holding it will bring the beam out of focus as will the slightest jostle. Also, the laser became very hot within 30 seconds. Again, im not sure if this is normal or what.

I tried to burn through the black lettering on a tostitos bag and it seemed to take more time than my 50mw ledshoppe green, also it would not burn all the way through, just kind of took the coloring off, leaving the clear plastic underneath intact, and it was hard to do as it became unfocused very easily. Also, I tried several different types of matches, I even sharpied a match, let it dry, and let the dilda shine on it focused for over a minute, about an inch away while on a stable surface. While there was a little warmth on the match. It was unable to ignite. I also let it shine on a dark colored cigarette for a decent amount of time with no results.

I am thinking there is something wrong with my dilda. From the videos and reviews I have seen, people seem to be able to burn much easier and faster. Has anyone had similar experiences. I have heard that Susie is great with dealing with these problems, which is why I bought it from her and I really want to get the 100mw 5 head green laser that just went up on the site, but just wanted to see if anyone else has had similar "dilda" problems. Also, what does she usually do for exchanges, will I have to pay shipping, will she send a box? TIA, any help is appreciated.

Are you focusing the beam as tight as possible?
I just got a new style dilda from her last week. I have no problems with it burning. I can even burn through a CD case in 12 seconds.

Also with the tootsie bag. You said it would burn the black coloring off.
But have trouble burning through the clear plastic underneath.
I would expect that to happen. Their is no color to absorb the light from your laser.

12 seconds??? that is a little long for that laser. When focused I can burn through a CD case in 1.5 seconds, really fast. I hope yours is not under spec. Were your batteries low?

You may indeed have an issue with it??? I can burn through a CD case (the black part) in 1.5 seconds. You should easily burn a hole in a Tostitos bag with the laser focused to infinity (1/4 inch spot) with that laser. If you can't burn through that or light a match instantly (shapied) then the laser has a problem. It very well may be the batteries. I suggest going to the store Best Buy or similar, and buy a set of the Energizer lithium CR2 batteries to troubleshoot with. If the laser preforms better, get another set from Susie.

Your right 12 seconds is to long
I got worried and thought something was wrong with my new dilda too.
I just timed it. I get 3 seconds to burn through a CD-R case.
I don't no why I was thinking 12 seconds.

Ahhh, that sounds more like it. It is a great laser isn't it?

Well, I put in a set of new cr2's and that seemed to do the trick. Guess the rechargeables that came with it were bad. I can pretty much burn anything now, :). Cigarette lit within seconds and it burns through cd cases rather easily putting out smoke. Thanks.

Yes, this is common. If you use a bit of Teflon (pipe-thread) tape, you can make the focus-head tight.

Which laser are you talking about?
I'm pretty sure it's this one:

Ahhh yes that does look pretty cool. Considering the one without the extra heads is only 3 dollars less!

I have the smae problem. The batery is the problem?
If you are having problems burning with a dilda, and you know that you are focusing the laser correctly, it may be your batteries.
One or both of the cheap green rechargable CR2's they send with the dilda are sometimes bad. Try to get two regular CR2's from your local camera shop, and if you can burn faster with those, you know it's the cheap rechargeables that are the problem. :eg:
Personally, I use these batteries in my 200mW Red:

My dilda still work great since last summer, the thing is you gotta pin point focus all the time to burn.
