HEHE I don't have anything against a joke, and this thread is more or less dead (main topic), ReNNo has gone to Class IV and build a 1W portable laser, you should expect a thread from him soon, if it is not there already.

Yes, this must not be a problem ..... red ones usually have 2.5 to 3 V FV, plus the dropout of the 1117, you need at least 4.5V ..... 2 x 10440 gives you from 8.4V (full charged) to 5.4V (full discharged, if protected are better), so it's more than enough

old post, I know, but for future reference, most amc7135 boards come with a diode to prevent reverse polarity. On my particular boards, it is a glass diode on the input. If you remove this, the chip will see higher voltage. This means that the chip should stay in regulation longer, since the voltage must be (Vf of polarity diode)+(Vdropout of the reg) and you are removing the polarity diode. Also, the newer datasheets recommend a filter cap on the Vin of the 7135. Dunno if that will help stabilize the "output" or just protect the chip.

I replaced my lm317 driver with a single chip soldered between the wires inside an aixiz module. soldered some thick copper wire onto the heatsink tab, wrapped the whole thing in tape, and stuffed it into the aixiz.

You can bridge any reverse polarity protection as long as you are certain the batteries are inserted in the proper order. With blurays this migh just make the diffrence wiorthwhie.
