I don't see why not... There's two seperate diodes in there, not an IR/red diode, so they could probably light at the same time. It would be pretty pointless, though. Plus having to wear two pairs of safety goggles

I've got an idea in mind that I would like to have both on, not really needed but I would like to see where the IR is pointing at least for testing purposes. A grad student at my university is working with some IR technology and I am trying to contribute some laser IR technology to his efforts.

As far as the goggles are concerned, I am not too much worried about the red as we can see that and I don't have shiny objects near my workbench but the IR is a huge concern of mine. I will treat it with as much respect as the others but I would like to have a pair of IR goggles to save my eyes . Anyone know where to get a good pair for a lower price, my budget is seriously lacking, that would cover the range of the PHR-803t IR diode (not sure of the wavelength).

Dragonlaser.com has a few different wavelength IR and near-IR goggles.

Thanks that was really helpful. I think it's about time I post my own thread and keep some notes and get feedback on my own. Hope that you all will follow and help me out.

What kind of mW we talking on the 803T red/IR diode? I have one and don't know what to do with it.

I have found that throwing them into the trash is an effective way to use them
