Ok so you might of herd in some of my comments that a few weeks ago my 200mW dilda died after only one year. :(
and i need a new one... SO my question for you is which one is best?
i am thinking of getting the new waterproof version and reviewing it, but i am a bit skeptical about it. BUT it might be worth it... i do love the idea that it used 18650 batteries and includes one batterie and a charger....
what do you think??? :thanks:

yep and that is one of the main reasons i am considering getting the waterproof version....and i love that it uses 18650 batteries... i allready have 4 for my hulk ultra!!!
but also if no one knows about it i don't know if its legit...

Do you think it'll be overspec if using the higher voltage 18650's since people use the higher voltage batteries on the normal dilda and get 250mw, add a new lens from larry or jayrob and get 300mw :) I wonder if this could take 300mw, it looks like it would have a bigger heatsink

im not sure, but if it even puts out 200 and is waterproof its worth it.:yh:

I would be kinda of skeptical of putting it in the water, like make sure everything is really tight. Also if your other dilda burnt out you could buy a new diode to put in just find what ma its running at, adjust your pot if you need to (if it has a pot). That would probably need a nice host.

Power it with the batteries supplied for the longest LD life...
If you want to experiment (at your own risk) you could bump
the voltage a bit.. (like we did with the "round nose" Dilda)...
Not even sure if they use the same Driver in the "Waterproof"
model...

If you get the waterproof red laser and you plan on using it underwater be prepared for a dirty beam from water spots.

Yeah, you just need to wipe off the lens when you get it out of the water. It's not a big deal. I have a few waterproof lasers that I take in the pool/snorkeling all the time.
So. My dilda just burned out as well (the dot seems like 5-10mW now), so I also ordered the waterproof 200mw a few days ago.
But with the 18650 "sized" power source,... You can't get it to be powered by 7.4v to boost the power like the dilda (and dilda v2), can you?
But, if you think about it,... the waterproof one (that runs on an 3.7v 18650), (hopefully) outputs 200mW from 3.7v, so it probably has a different driver board in the waterproof one. I'll know in a few days. :eg:

Could you elaborate on this?
1) What batteries are used in place of the two TR15270?
2) Where are they sold?
3) Where is a charger for them sold?

Another thing: if more power == more heat, is it possible to mod the dilda laser to add a heat sink, so that the diode doesn't immediately die?

I belive you could, but you would need to make the heat sink yourself, i don't think there is a readily made one
