Sighhh, those are very nice, but I cant really afford any of those, not after taking heed the recommendation of this forum and buying nice glasses first... Two pairs!!! one for red, one for green. Plus infrared filters to be safe. Dang shipping costs.

Wait what? What is positive rep?

I'd grab it from Sci fi, but everything on their site is currently sold out.

Reputation Points, on LPF the higher rep you have the more respect you get ;) So me giving you +rep means your green bar on you're profile went up a little. Which means you earned my respect in a way...

:undecided: Um...yea..

Or if you want something nice to hold you off
Military Adjustable Focus Green Laser Pointer Pen 5mW 532nm Beam Powerful 5 Mile | eBay

Mine metered at 100 mw

That green laser looks awesome. I actually just ordered a "5mW" 405 nm laser from ebay as well, and the host looks identical.

Really what i want, and will seriously complete my collection, is a low powered violet/or blue, and green, and red

PLUS a high powered (~100mW) violet/ or blue, and green, and red.

I have on order 5mW red blue green combo pack, which may end up being over spec.

And I also have as i just mentioned, the 405 "5mW" which is purported to be around 150mW.

My mission to get this 200mW red was to try to get the high powered set goin.
This green one will get it going quite nicely! Did you also buy it from the same user?

This still leaves the question of where to get the high powered red!!!

AND SO THE WAIT/HUNT BEGINS FOR THE RED. I'll probably end up waiting for scifi, as it seems to be the cheap laser of choice!

Thanks!

Defiantly wit for sci fi for the red.
And I do have that eBay laser on the link. It's about 100 mw on my meter. Very bright , nice beam , lights matches.

Just be very careful as cheap lasers like this tend to leak ir. and that is the invisible killer of your eyesight.

Yeah, I already had in my cart, and actually almost checked out along with the crappy o like laser some IR filters. I also had a visible spectrum filter, wanted to make an IR detector from a webcam, see how much relative IR each of my lasers put out.

Apparently, you can use the diffraction grating of a CD to split the beam and the IR diverges at a different angle than the other visible forms, and then just cast all resolved beams onto a sheet of paper (from a far, with goggles) and look at the image of the set up through your homemade IR camera. Of course you can only really determine relative magnitudes, no absolutes, and barely at that probably.

I totally just bought the green laser. If one with the same host comes in red, I am snatching that up too. Then I'd have my matching <5mW red blue green, and id have a matching "5mW" Quote quote red Violet green.

And my collecting will be done for this period. Probably not. I really need some Tiny little IR filters though. Pop one of them infront of each of my Greens when they arrive. Anyone know any source with free shipping?

Do any of the other colors other than green emit IR as inefficient conversion?

That same seller has these also. Has anyone purchased them and seen the construction inside? I did find a way for certain pens other than the ones my tutorial "focuses" on to still be able to follow the procedure (take a look and you will understand).
I purchased a set to see what they are even though I shouldn't have spent the money just because it bothers me that I don't have a set that I can refer anyone to so that the focusable thread stays simple.

3pcs 5mW Red Green Blue Laser Pointer Visible Beam Fast Shipping from USA | eBay

It is possible to get a very strong 650nm without breaking the bank. I keep saying this but no one seems to be jumping on them and I can't figure out why.
Couple I purchased averaged about 135mw with alkalines and about 220mw using a single 10440 with spacer.

Don't' have to be concerned with IR accept with the 532nm. A good quality 532nm will have <10% IR.

Glad you got yourself a laser after all ;)

And nope, the only other wavelength which produce IR is.....well...

:wtf:IR wavelength o_o

Am very curious why you are so concerned with the IR.

He probably got bombarded with IR warning when he first stated he wanted a green laser. I know a lot of times a welcome thread, turns into a giant IR debate!

I actually had that same laser in my cart along with the original laser in question, as well as some IR filters!! Oh, I'll wait for another time to have a second look at o-like. I'm not really THAT interested in modules right now, I haven't yet gathered the skills to be able to create anything suitable for them yet. Thank though! I will save those links.

I was very much into solar viewing some time ago, and I understood the dangers of Infrared radiation. Once i heard that some green lasers not only produce, but EMIT significant amounts of IR, i understood that I could not just "be careful." I also, dont have any IR goggles on order. So i must equip the lasers themselves with the precarious measures instead. Does the IR come out of the module in ALL directions? or is it just coming out where the green dot is visible? Or is there like a huge penumbra of IR blasting everywhere? Will the cheapie hosts stop the IR from coming out the sides?

Studying the sciences opened my eyes to the absolute astonishing perfection and power that is the electromagnetic spectrum. Atoms are capable of capturing and re-emitting such radiation, at several orders of magnitudes LARGER than then atom itself, and i think that in itself is incredible.

The production of a single wavelength to me is also a topic of interest, because i am very much interested in light's quantum nature. I will be experimenting with the photoelectric effect once these lasers come on in!

Thank you all!
