Default noob question maybe?

im rather new to lasers and this site and i bet people ask this all the time! but i am making a DVD laser pointer and i am planning on using two AAs to power it (i may decide on it being rechargeable)
i would like the diode to last a long time but also give a fair bit of power!
i was wondering what would be the best setup for the diode circuitry:-? :-/

Rocketbat, check out my post over in the experiments and modification section.

If you would like to buy a premade voltage/current regulator, check out http://pay.lasingpix.com/gpay-drivers.html

I'm sure we can work something out. Although, at $25, and given the size of this thing, shipping is going to be extra if I were to send it internationally. :-/
