exactly DTR -- we are not insiders/inside company people who have to worry about what they say--we are laser hobby enthusiasts -- absolutely no reason to feel any need to restrict free speech.
No need to live in fear about or censor ourselves at all.

Is all a pantload of "I have something valueable and must protect it/don't want it taken away" mentality stuff---all of it mostly delusional of course.

If the price was around that of a decent 589 then I'd save for one. However if it's around $2000+ then that's a whole other story. Keep in mind it's 8W of red. There are a few who have paid in the thousands for a few watts of green, so it's not too "out there" of a theory.

I'm just saying the way you put it is that the 8W array is readily available for purchase, and you have the money to buy one. I was asking how u plan on getting one even if you did have the money. (and beam correction optics is the least of ur worries)

In this particular case (thread) that I'm concerned, for giving details of a
diode that has still not gone on sale, and has not been officially launched, I still
say the same, it is prudent not to put clearly the brand name.

I don't care if may have consequences to me for being careless, but I don't
wish cause problems to the trust person who gave me the datasheet of this diode.

I hope you understand this.

And I hope I explained well with my bad English.

As long as everybody knows what we are talking about, IMO why the need t use thier company names as is???

ever heard of better safe than sorry--this is not some kind of 'freedom of speech' thing.

sounds like this may be more about an argument than anything else.

Do we really need to wait until a company has an issue with us??? lets just move and work on the lasers , not how we talk about them.. solo mis dos centavos
btw
Until Ka5io had a problem this, the same debate could be argued.(and was). a wise person would not wait on the cease and desist letter..
I fail to see the point..
as far as a company getting benifit and free advertizing via our DIY lasers.... really??

Yea why would laser diode manufacturers not like lasers? Or am I missing something? We here at LPF are educated on high powered laser use. We aren't the jackasses giving lasers bad names, we're fighting for laser safety awareness , so yes Len I hope laser diode manufacturers appreciate LPF and not the opposite.

Same reason the lasershow folks are not ALL in love with pointers and handhelds.

Hobbiests only rep a very small amount of thier sales. Would you want your company name asssociated with an illegal lasing incident???? or a serious injury... let alone some kind of terrorist activity??? follow me?? let it go... the horse is dead..

I wouldn't sweat anything. Those companies that produce diodes for projectors, also produce diodes for pointers. Laser pointers are a huge business in the Euro/Asian market.

And as you said, hobbyists are a small group. They could care less what we are doing. We are not using their product for anything they were not already designed for. Unlike Crappio, which we disassemble, and modify.

Lol if I were laser company it would only make sense.

You think when someone gets shot in the hood with a 9mm beretta that beretta is put on blast and questioned as a legitimate company? No but idiots do dumb things with guns an the gun manufacturers seem to do fine.

Yes, hopefully we see soon be a mass production and not be merely a prototype.

This diode is only an enhancement of the existing of 0.5W.

Approximately the same efficiency (1.0mW/mA (typ.), same divergence, etc.

Obviously the threshold current and operating current are not the same.

Just that with more power, both in continuous and pulsed.

Another thing is that it is a multimode diode, ie it will behave approx. the
same way that his less powerful brother (diode).

Wouldn't that be older brother?... :p

I'd really like to see some other colors than what we have now. DPSS is great but it's expensive.

I can't wait to get my hands on 510 nm diodes.

Haha, yes, I meant his little brother, ie, less powerful brother (diode) :D
