Okay so I just wanted to show off one of my more unique recent builds:D
This is a Mitsu G84 diode with an X-Drive set to 2.4A. I got the diode from our friend Podo and the driver came from our other friend DTR:)

The host is a full aluminum host that holds two 18650s and has a rear clicky switch. This host was made by our very own ElectricPlasma! So far I have had 2 hosts made by him and I gotta say that he does a superb job and I'd definitely recommend him if you're looking for a custom made host!

The focus adapter is full copper and was created by FlaminPyro. I am amazed that he was able to create exactly what I wanted because the only thing I gave him as a reference was a crappy MicrosoftPaint drawing

So I thought that the G84 could hit 2.5W but mine only barely hits 1.6W. Maybe if I get a bigger driver it'll go up in power but I don't know enough about this diode to try and push it. Either way I'm happy with it:)

Here are some pics:D (I skipped the build process cause it wasn't anything out of the ordinary:p)

Sooooo there we go! I'm gonna be playing with this thing all night:D

I hope you enjoyed it and maybe we will start seeing more of this diode, or others like it:D (I'd sure love a multi-emission green or blue:D)

Awesome build, cool diode and cool host! :)

The adapter is a nice touch!

You should post over on /r/lasers too - that sub needs more activity.

Are you using a lens? If you are what effect does adjusting the focus have? +rep for DIY
So you can burn three things at once...wait..how did you LPM that thing?

Yes, there is a lens. Also interested in seeing what it looks like focused to a point though.

As for LPM ... just hold it close to the sensor so all three beams fit I'd imagine. Never want to focus a beam onto an LPM sensor, otherwise you risk burning it.

I think I'll do that now:D

I am using a Sanwu G2. The initial focus looks like a regular unfocused multimode but as you tighten it the line slowly develops into 3 blobs and then into 3 distinct lines. Also, to lpm it, you gotta get suuuuper close:p it has a tight beam at first but expands exponentially towards the end.

Thanks!:D:D

That is just to awesome a beam, I might have to consider getting one myself. Curious, with the tri-beams does it get hot quick ? What is the run time you can get ?

It is just like a regular red, but instead of 1 emission zone it has 3. It doesn't get hot very fast either. I am not sure where to get them anymore as I think Podo is currently out of ready supply.

Ok thanks, know that the red doesn't seem to get hot that quick, so I was wondering? I'll ask Podo and see what he said? Maybe he's got some idea where to get one . You got my appetite up with those beam shots!

Very beautiful pictures!!!

Is it possible to fix 2 small mirrors on the head to make 2 lateral beams knife-edged with the central one?

Or has anyone already tried it with this LD? Maybe in a non-portable?

Maybe a collimating lens close to the G2 would help?

Nice, the output looks exactly like that of my Sanwu tribeam.

It seems the batteries I was using were not providing enough current/voltage. I put 2 stronger ones in and got just under 1800mW:D Ill charge up the new ones and see what I get then:)

Been thinking about your build all night. Sent Podo a request for a diode, keeping my fingers crossed. Gotta get one.:)

I'm glad I inspired to to make one of your own:D

So does anyone know if there was a way to flip the lines/axis on these? I think it would be a much cooler looking beam and dot if it looked like 3 vertical lines instead of 3 horizontal lines:p
Like this:

¦ ¦ ¦
(Ignore spaces in the middle of the lines)

Instead of this:
